Privacy Policy
How account, billing, email, and usage information is handled across Hormuz Strait Tracker.
Effective August 29, 2026
Scope and controller
This Privacy Policy explains how Strongr Fastr LLC, doing business as Hormuz Strait Tracker (“HST,” “we,” or “us”), handles personal information when you visit the website, create an account, subscribe, receive email updates, or contact us.
Strongr Fastr LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company, is the controller of personal information described here. Privacy inquiries may be sent to philip@hormuzstraittracker.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide. We collect your email address, optional name, update preferences, account requests, support messages, and information you submit through the Service.
Subscription information. We store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, subscription status, renewal-period information, and cancellation status. Stripe processes payment-card and billing details; HST does not store complete payment-card numbers.
Technical and usage information. Our servers and analytics tools may collect IP address, browser and device information, operating system, referring page, pages and features used, interaction events, approximate location derived from IP, timestamps, authentication events, and diagnostic or security logs.
Cookies and local storage. We use essential cookies for authentication, account sessions, security, and checkout reconciliation. Stripe may use its own technologies during checkout and subscription management. When product analytics is enabled, analytics identifiers may be stored to understand use of the Service.
How we use information
- provide accounts, subscriptions, complimentary access, downloads, and other requested features;
- authenticate users and maintain long-lived account sessions;
- process purchases, reconcile Stripe events, prevent duplicate subscriptions, and administer billing;
- send login codes, welcome messages, daily or weekly flow updates, service notices, and support replies;
- operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the Service;
- detect fraud, abuse, scraping, unauthorized redistribution, and security incidents; and
- comply with law, enforce agreements, and establish or defend legal claims.
Legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to perform our contract with you, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Service, and, where required, based on your consent. You can turn flow-update emails off from your account or through the unsubscribe link in each update.
How we share information
We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary to operate the Service:
- Stripe processes checkout, recurring payments, subscription management, and payment-related fraud prevention.
- SparkPost delivers authentication, account, operational, and flow-update emails.
- Hetzner provides server and database infrastructure.
- Mixpanel may process product-usage analytics when analytics is enabled.
- Professional advisers, authorities, or counterparties may receive information when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, a transaction involving the Service, or the establishment or defense of legal claims.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not disclose payment-card numbers because they are collected and retained by Stripe rather than HST.
Email choices
You may select daily, weekly, or no flow updates. Every recurring flow update contains an unsubscribe link, and preferences can be changed from the account page. Disabling updates does not prevent essential transactional or security messages, such as login codes, receipts, subscription notices, or responses to support requests.
Retention
We retain account and subscription information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Billing records, consent and delivery records, security logs, and support communications may be retained longer where needed for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement, or legal obligations.
Authentication codes expire quickly, although limited security records relating to authentication requests may persist. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to backups and mandatory retention.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information, including encrypted web transport, restricted infrastructure access, signed webhooks and links, and limited storage of payment information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or complain to a data-protection authority. Some information may be retained where permitted or required for billing, security, fraud prevention, or legal claims.
To exercise a privacy right, email philip@hormuzstraittracker.com from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
International use and children
Our providers may process information in the United States, Europe, and other countries. Where required, transfers are supported by recognized safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service or applicable law changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice of material changes when required.
Questions or requests may be sent to philip@hormuzstraittracker.com.
