Terms of Service
The rules governing subscriptions, research access, and use of Hormuz Strait Tracker data and analysis.
Effective August 29, 2026
Agreement and eligibility
These Terms of Service govern your access to Hormuz Strait Tracker’s websites, accounts, email updates, subscriptions, downloads, charts, analysis, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is owned and operated by Strongr Fastr LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company (“HST,” “we,” or “us”). By accessing the Service, creating an account, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.
Nature of the Service
Hormuz Strait Tracker is an independent research and informational publication. It estimates oil and liquid-fuel movements using vessel observations, satellite imagery, public reporting, third-party information, explicit assumptions, and editorial judgment.
The Service is not a navigation, collision-avoidance, safety-of-life, emergency-response, sanctions-screening, regulatory-compliance, investment, trading, legal, or operational decision system. You must independently verify information through appropriate official and professional sources before relying on it.
Accounts and access
You are responsible for providing an accurate email address, protecting access to that address and your account, and notifying us of unauthorized use. Accounts are personal to the individual or organization that registered them and may not be shared, sold, transferred, or used to circumvent plan limits.
Free and complimentary access may be changed or withdrawn. Paid features remain subject to the plan purchased, these Terms, and reasonable technical or usage limits.
Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance at the price and interval shown at checkout. Monthly subscriptions renew each month and annual subscriptions renew each year until canceled. You authorize us and our payment processor, Stripe, to charge the payment method associated with your subscription at each renewal.
You may cancel at any time through the subscription-management link on your account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current paid period unless applicable law requires otherwise. Canceling stops future renewals but does not retroactively reverse prior charges.
Subscription charges are non-refundable. We do not provide prorated refunds or credits for partial periods, unused time, downgrades, or cancellation, except where required by applicable law or where we expressly agree otherwise. We may change future pricing or plan features with reasonable notice; a price change will not alter a period already paid for.
Ownership and limited license
Hormuz Strait Tracker and its licensors retain all rights in the Service and in HST’s original methodologies, research, estimates, derived analytics, data selection and arrangement, compilations, annotations, charts, writing, branding, software, and other original materials. Third-party sources retain all rights in their underlying information and materials. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party data to HST or to you.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own personal use or your organization’s internal informational and analytical purposes. Publicly available pages may be quoted in reasonable excerpts with clear attribution and a link to Hormuz Strait Tracker.
Any CSV, download, API output, or other structured export remains Content under these Terms. Access to an export does not grant a right to redistribute the export or operate a data service with it.
Data use restrictions
Unless we expressly authorize it in writing, you may not:
- resell, republish, redistribute, sublicense, syndicate, or make premium Content or structured data available to third parties;
- systematically scrape, crawl, mirror, archive, download, or extract the Service outside interfaces we provide;
- use Content to create a substitute or competing oil-flow, vessel-tracking, maritime-intelligence, data-feed, or subscription product;
- share account credentials, evade a paywall, bypass access controls, or exceed technical limits;
- remove or obscure attribution, timestamps, source information, notices, or chart watermarks;
- publish an output that permits reconstruction of premium source records or substantially substitutes for access to the Service; or
- use premium Content to train, fine-tune, benchmark, or supply a commercial machine-learning or artificial-intelligence dataset without written permission.
You may create internal calculations, reports, alerts, and other derived work from your permitted use, provided those outputs do not disclose or reconstruct premium Content, function as a substitute for the Service, or violate third-party rights.
Accuracy, sources, and revisions
AIS transmissions may be delayed, incomplete, incorrect, spoofed, or absent. Satellite captures may be obscured, unavailable, misclassified, or separated by irregular intervals. Public reporting and third-party sources may also be inaccurate or revised. HST estimates necessarily rely on assumptions and may change when new evidence or manual review becomes available.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, or fitness of any estimate, observation, classification, forecast, or other Content. Historical values may be corrected, excluded, or revised without preserving a value that was previously displayed.
Acceptable use and suspension
You may not use the Service unlawfully; interfere with its operation or security; introduce malicious code; impersonate another person; probe or reverse engineer the Service except where such restriction is prohibited by law; or use the Service in violation of applicable sanctions, export-control, privacy, intellectual-property, or other laws.
We may limit, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe you breached these Terms, failed to pay, created a security or operational risk, or exposed us or a provider to legal risk. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions concerning ownership, restrictions, disclaimers, liability, and disputes survive termination.
Third-party services
The Service depends on or links to third-party data and services, including payment, email, hosting, satellite, and vessel-information providers. Their services and content are governed by their own terms. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party availability, accuracy, security, or conduct.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and Content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strongr Fastr LLC and its members, affiliates, contractors, and representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost profits, revenue, data, opportunity, or goodwill; business interruption; trading or investment losses; or decisions made using the Service.
Our aggregate liability arising from the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the subscription fees you paid us during the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.
Changes and governing law
We may update the Service and these Terms. Material changes apply prospectively, and we will provide reasonable notice when required. Continued use after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise. State and federal courts located in Pennsylvania will have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any non-waivable right you have to bring a claim elsewhere.
